black200Released in 1980, Back in Black featured new AC DC lead singer Brian Johnson who replaced  Bon Scott who died months earlier.  With the death of Scott, there were skeptics who thought this was the end of the hard rocking Aussie band.  But surprise… Back In Black was a huge success, with no filler tracks.  It comes in at Number 6 in the Eagle’s Greatest Classic Rock Albums of All Time, brought to you by D.R. Horton, America’s builder.  Your comments welcome.  Catch a replay of the AC DC story tonight at 8, or listen On Demand at eagle969.com.

artichokeHey  it seems everybody could use some extra money,  what are you doing, if anything, to generate a little income? Whether you are lucky enough to have a job, or unemployed and looking for one, we all have to come up with ways to bring in the dough. Any ideas? What has worked for you?..One of my favorite ways to raise some quick cash is to go down to Raley’s, buy 4 artichokes for a buck and then sell them at the off ramp of the freeway for 50 cents each. That’s 100 percent profit right there my friend.  Well good luck, and when you feel the need for an artichoke, I’ll be at the intersection of X street and 15th..

white200By 1968, the Beatles had done it all,  seen it all… and they were close to imploding.  But they found it within themselves to create a sprawling, double album, The Beatles (which will forever be known as The White Album).   It comes in at Number 7 in the Eagle’s Greatest Classic Rock Albums of All Time, brought to you by D.R. Horton, America’s builder.  Your comments welcome.  Catch a replay of the White Album story tonight at 8, or listen On Demand at Eagle969.com.

eagles200It was a combination of rock, country, folk … with superb harmonies.   Sort of a Flying Burrito Bros. meets the Everlys.  The Eagles debut was the beginning of a magic formula that made up the LA country rock sound that would take them right to the top.  Did you have this in your Top Ten?  Love to get your thoughts/comments.  Catch a replay of the Eagles story tonight at 8, or listen On Demand at Eagle969.com.

bruce-200x1501

According to reports, Bruce Springsteen will perform his Born to Run album in its entirety when he plays at Chicago’s United Center on September 20th. It’s unclear whether Bruce will do a new album every night of the tour, which starts August 19th in Hartford, Connecticut. He also could perform Born To Run every night, or just the date mentioned in Chicago. Maybe he’ll have a Zydeco night.

Last year, Springsteen played Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town back-to-back at a fundraiser in Red Bank, New Jersey, so there is hope. Stay tuned.

palin-200x150Sarah Palin delivered her final sppech over the weekend in Alaska. Some people were confused by it’s content, only to realize there was a poem in her speech.

Conan O’Brien did a great bit on that last night, as he had William Shatner-who’s done albums that sound like beat poetry-do Palin’s piece. The band joins in. Good stuff.

rumours200The blockbusters are taking over… It’s Mac Time. And Rumours, the second album recorded with the now classic line-up, would turn personal pain and internal turmoil into gold…  and become one of the best selling albums ever.  It comes in at Number 9 in the Eagle’s Greatest Classic Rock Albums of All Time, brought to you by D.R. Horton, America’s builder.  Love to get your comments.  Catch a replay of the Rumours story tonight at 8, or listen On Demand at eagle969.com.

446461295_b04af9f15d_m1WORST FOODS TO EAT WHILE DRIVING

Just about everyone does something OTHER than drive when they’re behind the wheel — like texting, putting on makeup, talking on the phone. And yes, a lot of people eat while they drive.

Some foods only require one hand to eat, some have a higher spill factor and some are downright dangerous! Insure.com lists some of the worst foods to eat while driving:

Coffee: It always manages to spill somehow and it’s usually HOT.

Hot soup: Many people drink it like coffee and it poses the same risks.

Tacos: A food that can disassemble itself without help = MESSY!

Hamburgers: From the grease to ketchup, mayo or mustard, there’s plenty of goop to end up on your hands, clothes, steering wheel, etc.

Anything BBQ: The sauce may be yummy, but it will end up on whatever you touch.

Fried chicken: Another food that leaves you with greasy hands that can also leave the steering wheel greasy, along with staining your clothes.

Jelly doughnuts: Has anyone ever eaten a jelly doughnut without some of the stuff oozing out? Imagine it on your clothes or car seats.

Chocolate: As it melts, it gets all over your fingers, leaving its mark anywhere you touch. Try cleaning it off the steering wheel and you could end up swerving.

Just Asking … What are you guilty of eating or drinking in the car? Have you ever had an accident or a near-miss? What’s the most dangerous thing you do while behind the wheel?

ericclapton_200x150Back in the fall, Eric Clapton and Robbie Robertson were working on an album, but decided to shelve it. The two friends have never said why they stopped working on it, and have never brought back the project. There was speculation that they didn’t see eye-to-eye on its direction. According to Robertson’s son Sebastian, Clapton wanted to spend more time with his family. Sounds like a soft excuse doesn’t it? He’s not spending time with his family with Steve Winwood.  Clapton does make an appearance on Robertson’s fifth solo album, which he’s currently working on though. We will keep you posted.
