WolfMoonThe Wolf Moon will rise in the sky tonite (Friday)..and  it will be the brightest full moon of 2010.  Hopefully we’ll be able to see it thru the clouds!  The Wolf Moon–the first full moon of each year– is so named because of a Native American idea that hungry wolves howled at this moon on cold winter nites.  This full moon will be about 30 % brighter than others this year, because it will happen at perigee–the point in its orbit where the moon is closest to earth.  As an added bonus, Mars will be right next to it–look for the reddish object just left of the moon.   I take it as an omen that Pink Floyd will win the Superbrawl…or does the Dark Side of the Moon mean that they’ll LOSE??  Feel free to howl at the moon tonite, either way…

make upMany women are trying to be eco-friendly within their everyday life. One most important eco-friendly decisions is makeup! What exactly is eco-friendly makeup though? It can range from makeup that isn’t tested on animals to makeup made straight from corn. Many brands are eco-friendly and you might not even realize it.

Eco-friendly brands include: Afterglow, Cargo PlantLove, Mark. Makeup, Avon, Tarte,  and Medusa’s Makeup

The Animal Testing Free Makeup- Rats, rabbits, and mice are all used for makeup testing. It has been a big hit for makeup companies to ban animal testing and now they actually pay women to test their products and review them. One of the first companies to become animal testing free was Avon Inc. They became one of the first in the world to take this eco-friendly choice in 1993. Next time you buy makeup, make sure you check to see if they are testing on poor little Rascal or Max. If they are, set it down and move on because putting lipstick on the pig is never pretty.

If more women wore eco-friendly makeup animal cruelty rates would decrease and the healthiness of the plant can be restored. There are many different types of makeup with different ecological benefits. Usually it’s hard to find an all-over eco-friendly makeup line. The most common type of eco-friendly makeup is animal cruelty free, meaning they don’t test on animals. This is a big issue throughout the makeup industry because it’s cheap and easy to test on animals. Taking the step with eco-friendly makeup is a small, yet helpful, step to a healthier earth.

brawl200Some people take this as seriously as a heart attack… I guess that’s what gets the adrenaline goin’….  Nothin’ wrong with that.

After an insane four days, some blown calls  and  near riots…. we have two experienced finalists for the 2010 Superbrawl Title…

The loud, in-your-face Aussies… AC DC…. vs. the most serious, intense Classic Rockers of our generation… Pink Floyd…whose fans have been up to the challenge from day one.

My guess is…. It goes down to the wire.  Friday’s text votes will be tabulated from 10am to 5pm….

page-200x150Last year, when posed with the question of “Would Led Zeppelin ever take part in Rock Band or Guitar Hero,” Jimmy Page answered-”You think of the drum part that John Bonham did on Led Zeppelin’s first track on the first album, ‘Good Times Bad Times.’ How many drummers in the world can play that part, let alone on Christmas morning?”

Now it seems as if he has softened his stance a bit. Page says “It’s a fun thing to do. You get an understanding of the timing of music, with that you can have fun on it. I think the most important thing is that with an instrument, you should just really have fun with it and enjoy it.”

Could we possibly see Zeppelin featured on one of those games? Stay tuned.

brawl200Creedence vs. Bob Seger (+3 ½)..  battle of the wild cards.. each with solid, loyal followings that only packed enough clothes for one day….By the way, CCR’s “one vote” win over Zeppelin made ESPN 1320’s “Shocker of the Week..”

AC DC vs. Boston (+13 ½)… AC DC’s gotta be thinkin’… “who let you in here?”..  it would take a miracle for Boston to pull this off, but they’ve surprised everyone all week.

Queen vs. Tom Petty (2 ½)..  Queen’s been cleaning house.. but Tom’s followers have fire in their eyes… could be a bloodbath….

Pink Floyd vs. Eric Clapton (+8 ½)..  Floyd’s fans are the most intense, dedicated  people on the earth… on the other hand, Eric’s got the coolest SmartPhone…. Don’t count him out yet…

joankrisI always found Joan Jett to be sexy..even tho it looked like she could kick my a$$.  And I STILL crank up “I Love R&R” when it’s on the airwaves. Now, there’s a new “biopic” about her former band the Runaways.  The movie premiered this past week in Sundance. Kristen Stewart–yeah, the chick from “Twilight”–plays the role of Joan.  She’s pictured on the right here..pretty close resemblance, eh?  Dakota Fanning plays the role of Cherie Currie, the Runaways lead singer who often took the stage wearing lingerie.  Wonder if I’ll be able to see the movie in 3-D ??

brawl200Zeppelin vs. CCR (+8 ½).. Fogerty pride runs deep.. the boys from El Cerrito will at least put up a fight..

Jimi Hendrix vs. Bob Seger (+6 ½).. momentum is on Jimi’s side… as his sister keeps reminding us…

Eagles vs. Boston (+12 ½)… Eagles support seemed weak against Def Leppard… but they should win in a walk…

AC DC vs. Fleetwood Mac ..(+7 ½)..  could Mac be the spoilers again?

Van Halen vs. Tom Petty..(+4 ½)..  Tom’s just havin’ fun… but this matchup is not for sissies…

Queen vs. Foreigner.. (+9 ½)..   Queen embarrassed The Police so badly… they threw in the towel…  Foreigner could be the next victim..

ZZ Top vs. Eric Clapton.. (+6 ½)..  Slowhand knocked off a former champion yesterday…he’s hungry… and that Clapton Sunburst SmartPhone still rocks…

Pink Floyd vs. Beatles.. (Pick ‘em)..  Floyd followers are organized and intense…. But the Beatles fans will come on in the last 2 minutes…..
