You’ll notice that we seem to have the happiest, most appreciative concert goers at Woodsquawk.  A big reason is our stance on “No Whiners.” You know the type… they complain about their tickets, the weather, the food…everything.  As we have a no tolerance policy for these individuals at all of our shows, we give them a new direction.   Guilty parties are required to board the Rapid Rooter Whine Train and are taken on a 45 minute ride to a quarry in Sly Park.  Their whereabouts are unknown.

As you know, one of the tragedies at the original Woodstock Festival occurred when a concertgoer was run over by a tractor. I came perilously close to a déjà vu moment, when I thought I backed over a patron at the Keller Farm.  Turns out I just clipped his hefty bag.  He says it was filled with a 12-pack of Pepsi and some medical marijuana.  No one was seriously injured.

Woodsquawk is already under way, and all of our porta potties are clogged, just two hours into the festival. Not sure what has caused this, although were thinking it was a bad reaction to our prune bran coffee muffins. Sorry, we’re also out of Pepto. Maybe next year.

We have an announcement to make regarding Woodsquawk 2010. We have a new sponsor! We’d like to say thanks to “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter” for sponsoring our smaller stage. We are hoping to get Fabio down, (so is Kat) so she can “help him out.”

We will also be passing out Fabio hair for you to swing around when the Scorpions take the stage. It’s gonna be a beautiful weekend up at Max Keller’s Farm. Starts at 10am tomorrow (Friday) on the Eagle!

This is the popular Gary Glitter Bounce House… back for its third year at the Woodsquawk Festival.  Concert goers can leave the young ones in safe hands.  Look for the Happy Time Play Area at the south end of Keller Lake, near the RV campgrounds.  Take the Keller Canyon Road exit off the 50 freeway…and follow the signs to free parking.   See you this weekend.

Just a reminder, there is plenty of free camping at Woodsquawk this year. One of the more popular spots is along Keller’s Creek. You’ll want to fish the creek and enjoy the sound of running water near your campsite. Or, you may want to camp in the south pasture near the public restrooms, again with the running water sounds. Get here early and pick out a good spot for  you and your family. See you this weekend!

Rolling Stones re-issue of Exile on Main Street was a huge success on the Billboard album charts, as it debuted at #2. The Target album, with just the 10 previously unreleased songs debuted at #27. All in all, that’s not bad for a band that isn’t supposed to sell anymore.

A hotel is more than just the place you sleep at night. The accommodations you choose have a major impact on the location where you’re staying. When you take a shower, turn on a light switch, or use any of the hotel’s facilities, the hotel’s environmental policies will affect the sustainability of your vacation. There are almost as many different environmental policies as there are different hotels and resorts.  Several hotels define their brand based on sustainability, but many others engage in practices with far reaching consequences. Some of the harms that resorts can cause include water pollution, wasted electricity, and loss of native habitat. When golf courses replace mangrove forests, or rooms are chilled to 50 degrees in the tropics, that puts a huge strain on the ecosystem surrounding the hotel. One way to choose your hotel is to ask if they take part in the Green Hotel Initiative. This industry program offers best-practices standards and accountability. Also, let hotels know that environmental concerns affect how you spend your money. On their guest comment card, encourage wherever you stay to adopt more sustainable policies.

Behold… this is “Tubzeppelin”… the largest man made object ever to fly.  It’s sort of in the shape of a bathtub, as it comes from Tubz, the Sacramento company that features the greatest selection of bathtubs and accessories in America.  The spectacular zeppelin, known as “TubZep”, is expected to touch down at Woodsquawk tomorrow night around 7.  Eagle Clubbers are encouraged to come out for photo opportunities… and free 30 minute rides across the Sacramento Valley.  Believe me, at 844 feet in length (40 feet longer than the Hindenburg),  it is a sight to see across the skyline.   It has plush, luxury seating, a full bar, buffet…. and a bathtub showroom.  Thanks to the folks at Tubz for supporting Woodsquawk.  Reserve your VIP seating now at yougottabekiddinme.com.

U2 WILL be performing at Woodsquawk, contrary to rumors floating around. Bono, as you know, has had back surgery and cancelled their American and European tour for the remainder of the year. But due to special negotiations and an acquisition of some special equipment on our part, U2 will hit the Rapid Rooter stage for their first 2010 Woodsquawk performance early Friday evening. We’re having the hand truck Hannibal Lector used in Silence of the Lambs being Fed Ex’ed to the site now. Two roadies will be dedicated to wheeling Bono around the stage for each performance and his autograph signing party at the Cache Creek Casino Tent Saturday afternoon. Bono tells us he grew up poor in Dublin and never had a little red wagon as a kid, so he’s actually pretty excited about the weekend. It’s the best music festival in your mind, folks. It’s going to be fantastic. Tune in starting Friday at 10am.
